Important customers in the small car market are students. Students do not need a large car but do need cheap prices and in many cases access to finance as by virtue of being students they generally do not have the money to buy out right. When five students were asked what car they preferred to drive three of them said a small car and singled out the Prius, Civic and Aveo. From a student point of view probably the most desirable car is the prius v as it ticks all the boxes most importantly in size and green credentials.
Toyota would be wise to take head of this information and make the prius v an attractive proposition for students. There are several factors that are important to students who wish to buy a car while they are studying. Many students need finance to buy a car usually from a bank or other credit agency where the car is bought and then the students pays the money back to the financer. This is all well and good at enabling the student to get the car at payments that they can afford but the downside is that interest rates for these types of loans ted to be high significantly increasing the final cost of the car. If you are in a position to pay some money down try to make this as big an amount as possible over as short a period as possible. This will make the final cost of the car lower as finance companies will give better rates the quicker that they get their money back.
It is much better to buy a car from a dealer than from a private buyer as all servicing will be done and you should get a guarantee. Cheap easy finance from dealers will increase sales to students.
