Vehicle Dependability Report Places Lincoln First
Vehicle Dependability Study Released
Reported information on the findings of a vehicle dependability study, were released on Thursday by a globally recognized marketing information company. The study gave American manufacturers, particularly Lincoln a surge of optimism and a positive outlook for the future.
The study revealed that the overall dependability of vehicles has seen an improvement compared to last year. A positive development was that automobile manufacturers had succeeded in reducing the rate of problems experienced. However, the report indicated there were areas in areas of new technology and features that presented challenges.
There were five contestants for the top position in dependability for 2011. They included Lexus, Jaguar, Porsche and Toyota; however, the highest score for durability went to Lincoln.
Although imported brand names were the leaders in dependability on a long-term basis in 2011, the report noted that domestic manufacturers had made progress in substantially reducing the difference in the initial vehicle quality. Support for this statement is provided to a degree by the recognition given to Lincoln.
This is a study carried out annually. It is based on problems experienced during the past twelve months, by the original owners of vehicles three years of age, purchased by them in 2008. The study this year was compiled on results obtained from 43,700 participants.
Many automobile manufacturers make use of this study as an indicator means of improving their designs. It is also an aid to consumers when seeking to purchase either a new or a pre-owned vehicle.
